I guess I have been a bit behind in my updates, sorry!
Layla just finished a 3 week, everyday swimming program and is now a champion swimmer. She really enjoys swimming and even started to work on back stroke and freestyle during the last week. We are very proud of her.
Soccer started last weekend as well. We started a bit rocky because at her first game Layla didn't want to play the game "where there is only one ball". She wanted to play like practice where everyone gets their own ball. Once we got through this, she decided it was time to go out onto the field and kick butt. She did an excellent job, attacking the ball where ever it went. She is the youngest on her team by 9 months and about 6 inches!!
She started preschool a few weeks ago and proved me wrong. She goes into her new class like a big girl and loves to be the "bathroom monitor" because she gets to smell her friends hands to see if they washed them....kind of weird, but ok, as long as she likes it.
Kaptur is a wild man. He has such a vocabulary and says the craziest things. He still loves his dinosaurs and named his new dinosaur Webkinz "soccer dino". He has a funny "PeeWee Herman" voice that he talks in when he is pretending, it's hilarious! He loves to say, "Yes, Because" all the time. If you ask him if he likes pizza, for example, he'll say, "Yes, because I like it". Not sure where that came from?? The other day he was playing with my cousin's little girl Maddie and my Grandma shook her head at them when they were acting silly and he told her "Monkey see monkey do"!! I think we could make a lot of money off of him if we just put a video camera on him all day. He makes us laugh all the time.

Layla's first friend birthday party was a success. We had her birthday party at a jump house and invited her friends from school and her cousins. I was very proud of Layla because she was polite and thanked everyone for each present and for coming to her party. She still was very shy and did not like it when everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Maybe she'll get over that by her 10th birthday!!

Layla had a fun birthday on Wednesday. Auntie Mandy and I surprised her at school with balloons and popcicles for her whole class. Then we went to pick up Layla's new bike. After that, we went to the "train restaurant" for dinner and stopped at Aunt Colee and Uncle John's.
Layla loves her bike and rides it all over the place. We'll work our way up to no training wheels, but for now, she relies on the training wheels pretty heavily.

Layla had her 4 year check-up on July 10th. She was in the 25% for height and weight (38 1/4 inches; 32 lbs). Oddly, she was very excited about seeing the doctor and hopped right up on the examination table. The doctor did notice her "lazy eyes" and suggested an eye doctor appointment, thinking Layla would need glasses to help correct her eyes. We do have an appointment in 2 weeks.

We are geared up for a fun summer. We renewed our water park and zoo passes for another year and my hectic work/teaching schedule has finally slowed down. Kaptur and Layla had been fighting a cold for the last few weeks and both ended up with ear infections. We've started Kaptur on allergy meds to see if that helps him.
Kaptur is such a funny boy. He doesn't like to be outside for too long because the sun really bothers his eyes. We bought him a fancy pair of kid sunglasses to see if that helps. He is talking so well and says the funniest things to us. If you ask him if you can play with him, he replies "of course". If he doesn't want to do something you ask (like go to bed), he tells you, "no me don't think me want to do that, no thank you" (at least he's polite about it). Even though he can say the word pacifier, he still calls them his "fa-fa's". He LOVES dinosaurs and growling at people he does not know. We are trying the potty, but he's not too interested in it. I don't want to push too hard, but I know he can do it. His foot is growing and he's finally reached a size 7....double wide!
Layla is loving her gymnastics class. She practices kart wheels all the time and loves to do sit-ups with me (which helps with her gymnastics). I've noticed that she gets embarrassed very easily and does not like to be the center of attention around people she does not know. She gets frustrated easily when she can't do something. Layla has been interested in spelling words and add/subtract numbers lately, and she's getting good at it. She is still quite the negotiator and organizer. Layla had been in a size 7 shoe for a long time and took a big growth spurt and now wears an 8 1/2. I noticed that her size 3 pants no longer fit her and she has to wear a 4 because of the length, but her waist to so tiny...good thing for adjustable waists.
We are off to a 3 day trip to Cedar Point next weekend in Ohio. We're staying at a resort on the beach and it should be lots of fun.

I haven't updated for awhile so here goes:
Layla - Layla has her ups and downs. She goes through spurts of not listening, and then she's an angel. She does a great job going to school, but got her first official "time-out" last month for running (along with 4 other students). Of course I was upset, but her teachers assured me there is nothing to worry about. Layla is doing very well in gymnastics and soccer (when she goes out onto the field...I think she has her Daddy wrapped around her finger). Lately Layla has been very interested in human anatomy, which makes for great conversations at dinner. I also think Layla is going to be a lawyer someday because she will negotiate anything and everything from bedtime, to how many pieces of candy she can have to how many books we read at night.
Kaptur is all boy now! It must have been the black-eye the initiated him into the "All Boy" club! He loves dinosaurs and animals. He likes to match the baby dinos up with their Mommys and talk to them "Hi Mama Hi Baby, you got poopoo? You want chocolate milk?" Too funny! When he gets embarrassed or shy, he growls at people. Some of his new sayings: "Watch me, MaMa" "Let go, MaMa, me do it" Much to his father's dismay, Kaptur loves to dress up in Layla's play clothes and pink boots. Layla and Kaptur both love to dance together. I reassured Daddy that if SuperNanny said that little boys dressing up in girls clothes is nothing to worry about, then we must be ok.

Kaptur went to the doctor today for his 2 year check-up. It appears that he's very healthy and smart. He was in the 50th percentile for weight (28 lbs); 60th percentile for height (34 1/2 inches) and 40th percentile for head size.
The doctor was pleased with his vocabulary and the way he was putting words together to make sentences.

We just got back from our 3rd annual indoor water park trip. This year we changed scenes and went to Wisconsin Dells and it was a blast! Layla got up enough courage to go down the bigger body slides and we couldn't get her off of them. Kaptur was Mr. Independent and wouldn't let us help him with anything, even when he got knocked down by waves and was at the bottom of the pool. If we helped him up, he'd come up yelling "No No No". We are all exhausted from all the climbing and sliding, but it was worth it.
Thanks to Gammy and Papa, Layla has now learned to call people from Wisconsin "Cheese Heads" and reminded us several times while we were at the resort..outloud!

Help..Kaptur is obsessed with Boots (from Dora the Explorer). He walks around all days asking to watch "Boots Dora". At the very least, it does give me 20 minutes of free time. If I need to clean or get something done, I know he won't move from the couch.
Bomber stayed home to watch the kids on Wednesday and was very disturbed to find out that Kaptur stripped all of Layla's Barbie dolls naked. However, he did say that Kaptur used a stethoscope and played doctor with the Barbie’s.
I hate to say this, because I don't want to jinx myself, but I think Layla is starting to grow out of her "terrible two and three" stage. She thinks things through now and realizes that if she does something she's not supposed to, she is going to get in trouble, so it's not worth doing. She's so helpfulComments:Add a comment:
